The Dark Skies of Morgan County

In keeping with the mission of the Morgan County Observatory, this blog is intended to be educational as well as entertaining (you know, pretty pictures). I love finding objects in the sky and getting the telescope working as well as is possible. I take a rather esthetic approach to sky objects. I think they are an amazingly beautiful part of the natural world, as are trees, flowers, birds, etc. I consider myself to be an amateur astronomer, but I am by no means an amateur cosmologist (a scientist who studies the universe and its origin and development). I take most modern ideas about the origins of the universe with a huge grain of salt and feel that there is vastly more to the story than we have imagined.
